[Wed, Dec 3 2008] Clear Channel Jolly launches BikeMi

'BikeMi' is launched in Italy's fashion city Milan!

BikeMi campaignIn May 2008, Clear Channel Jolly Pubblicità, a leading italian outdoor media owner, won the "Bike Sharing" public tender in Milan organized by ATM, Milan's transport authority. On Monday 17 November launched the season ticket scheme for the service, which will become operational on 28 November.

The Milan tender was Italy's first and the world's third example of a bike-based integrated public mobility system.

Clear Channel boasts some truly consolidated know-how and has been researching, implementing and improving bike-sharing for over ten years.

The system was first installed in 1997, for Rennes (in France), and is now operating in cities like Washington DC, Barcelona, Stockholm, Zaragoza, Drammen, Oslo, Trondheim, Goteborg, Dijon, Caen and Perpignan.

Milan's bike-based public transport system will be known as "BIKEMI". The communication campaign will continue until 31 December.

The system includes a first phase of 103 stations and 1,300 bikes, and may develop up to 250 stations and 5,000 bikes with a contract of a fifteen-year duration. Running costs are offset by advertising installations in urban furnishings.

The system will operate all year round, from 7am to 11pm. One-year season tickets will be on special offer until 28 February 2009, at €25.

Season tickets can be purchased by credit card payment only from the www.bikemi.it website or from ATM points. The ATM call centre, answering at 800.80.81.81 from 7am to 11pm daily, provides all information required for season ticket purchase.

An annual season ticket includes free use for the first half hour. Temporary, daily and weekly passes will also be on sale from January 2009.

The BIKEMI website indicates the location and status of the bike stations and offers instructions on how to use the system.
